Research Interests:

I am a physicist with expertise in the follwong fields: microwave radiation transfer through planetary atmospheres inverse problems, especially retrieval of atmospheric properties from microwave spectra; instrument development and instrument performance testing, parallel processing and high performance computing.

Since 2013: Co-Investigator for the instrument SWI (Sub-millimeter Wave Instrument) onboard the Juice spacecraft (Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer, launched in April 2023)
Since 2009: Co-Investigator for the instrument HIFI (Heterodyne Instrument for the Far Infrared) onboard the Herschel Space Observatory (launched in 2009)
Since 2006: Co-Investigator for the instrument MIRO (Microwave Instrument for the Rosetta Orbiter, launched in 2004)
Since 2004: Senior scientist at MPS

1998: PhD, Thesis: "Microwave remote sensing of the Earth’s atmosphere", Univ. Bremen, Germany
1991: Diplom in physics, Thesis: "High-temperature Superconductivity", Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen, Germany
