Forschungsinteressen
I am a solar physicist studying the thermodynamic properties and the magnetism of the lower solar atmosphere, from the photosphere up to chromospheric heights. The basis for my research are solar observations at highest spatial resolution, measuring the polarization properties of solar spectral lines from the ultra-violett to the infrared wavelength range. I use and develop codes to extract the information from these spectropolarimetric data to produce a three-dimensional model atmosphere, serving as the basis for comparisons with, for example, magnetohydrodynamic simulations.
I am the project manager of the Sunrise III stratospheric solar observatory, and founder and leader of the research group "Solar Lower Atmosphere and Magnetism" (SLAM) at MPS. I perform solar observations with ground-based solar telescopes and analyze data from space-borne observatories.
