Forschungsinteressen
As a mechanical engineer, I design, develop, assemble and test scientific instruments for space missions.
During the development of the Submillimetre Wave Instrument (SWI) for ESA’s JUICE mission, I contributed to the design of several subsystems. In Phase C/D, I led the mechanical integration and testing of the Telescope and Receiver Unit (TRU) as Mechanical AIV Lead. This included functional testing of the mechanisms and environmental testing, including vibration, shock and thermal vacuum tests. I also performed the alignment of the microwave optics using a coordinate measuring machine (CMM). The flight spare of SWI will serve as a ground reference model in a long-term thermal vacuum chamber, for which I design the mechanical and thermal components.
My current work focuses on the mechanical design of the Central Control Unit (CCU) for the VenSpec suite on ESA’s EnVision mission to Venus. My responsibilities include structural analysis using finite element analysis (FEA) and environmental testing of the structural thermal model. In addition, I carry out vibration tests for other projects at our in-house vibration test facility.
