The NECP is now complete

After the successful Juice launch, in-orbit commissioning activities have commenced. From April 25, 2023, to July 18, 2023, the Near Earth Commissioning Phase (NECP) activities for SWI were conducted to ensure the instrument's functionality. These activities have been successfully concluded, and SWI has been powered on for the first time.
During the Earth flyby, JUICE’s instrument SWI measured the radiation that the molecules from Earth's atmosphere emit into space in various frequency bands. For the measurements shown here, SWI looked at Earth's limb (left-hand image). The blue circle shows the size and position of SWI's field of view. The frequency ranges from 556.4 gigahertz to 557.6 gigahertz (top right) and from 1113.0 gigahertz to 1114 gigahertz (bottom right) are shown on the right. Juice confirms that Earth is habitable
