SOLMAG - Solar magnetic field and its influence on solar variability and activity
SOLMAG is funded by an ERC Advanced Grant of Sami K. Solanki. The project will follow an integral approach for understanding the physics underlying the structure and dynamics of the solar magnetic field, combining new observational facilities, novel instruments, the next generation of inversion techniques for data analysis and state-of-the-art MHD simulations. more
Helios
Helios 1 and Helios 2 have been a pair of space probes developed within a common program of Germany and NASA. The probes were launched in December 1974 and January 1975, repectively. Goal of the mission have been pioneering measurements of the interplanetary medium between the Earth's orbit and 0.3 AU. The Helios probes provided data until 1985. more
Ulysses
The Ulysses space probe of ESA and NASA was launched from the space shuttle Discovery in order to explore the heliosphere. Primary scientific goal was the first investigation of the until then unexplored regions above the solar poles. In 2009 the Ulysses mission ended after almost 19 years in orbit. more
SOLID: First European Comprehensive SOLar Irradiance Data exploitation
SOLID (First European comprehensive SOLar Irradiance Data Exploitation) is a collaborative SPACE Project under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) of the European Commission. A major objective of the SOLID effort is to analyse and merge the complete set of European irradiance data, complemented by archive data that include data from non-European missions. more
CRC 963 "Astrophysical Flow Instabilities and Turbulence"
Turbulence is one of the key processes for the structure and evolution of a large variety of geo- and astrophysical systems. The combination of projects within this collaborative research center allows to investigate various aspects of turbulent magnetic field amplification, of turbulence and instabilities of rotating fluids, and of the interaction of turbulence and instabilities with radiation, gravitation, and dust particles. more
