Time Lapse Movie of Partial Solar Eclipse
Despite a few clouds, the movie shows a beautiful view of the eclipse.
As part of today's virtual public event "A Bite from the Sun" of the Institute of Astrophysics of the University of Göttingen and the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS), the live telescopic images of the partial solar eclipse (taken with a telescope in the dome of the Institute of Astrophysics) have now been compiled in a time lapse movie. Unfortunately, the sky was partly clouded, so that the movie is sometimes black; at the time of maximum occultation around 12:30 even rain fell. Nevertheless, we could enjoy a beautiful view of the Sun during most of the eclipse.
Partial Solar Eclipse from June 10th, 2021 in Time Lapse
The telescope images were taken at the Institute for Astrophysics of the University of Göttingen. The complete eclipse lasted about two hours, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. At the time of maximum occultation (13 percent), the sun was obscured by clouds.
