High-resolution. high cadence polarimetry with FSP
The FSP is a novel instrument developed by MPS in collaboration with the MPG semiconductor lab (see the FSP site for further information). The superior specifications of FSP in terms of duty cycle, noise and frame rate; allow it to acquire 100 full-Stokes measurements per second and render it ideal to perform high spatial resolution imaging of fast solar features that present strong polarimetric signatures. The images showed here illustrate such regime by comparing the results of a pore measurement obtained with FSP to those that would be obtained with a slower polarimeter.

FSP observations of a pore acquired at the German Vacuum Tower Telescope on Tenerife. The measurement spans only 1.92 seconds. Note the increased spatial resolution and SNR in the FSP restored data (middle column) when compared to the simple average (leftmost column) and the restored data that would be obtained with a slower polarimeter (rightmost column).
