Main Focus
Stars with an outer convective zone are bound to develop some level of magnetism. On the Sun, these fields can manifest as dark (sunspots) and bright (faculae) features in white light observations. My research focuses on understanding the impact of such magnetic fields on the photospheres of other stars. To that end, I construct 3D radiative magneto-hydrodynamic models of stellar surfaces with various magnetic field configurations, and then analyze their effect on the thermodynamic and convective structure, as well as emergent intensity.
