Vaccination by the institute's physician

(according to email from the Managing Director from June 16, 2021)

Dear all,

It has been reported in the press that the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which is the vaccine that our institute's physician (Dr. Späth) wants to use, is having delivery problems. He has not indicated to us if this will have an impact on his vaccination plan. However, in order to be prepared for the start of the vaccinations at the institute, the crisis team would like to ask now if you wish to be vaccinated by Dr. Späth. If so, please send an email to with your name and indicate which of the following categories applies best to you (multiple choices are possible):

  • I have to work on site at the institute all the time
  • I have to work mainly on site at the institute
  • I can work mainly from home
  • I have to work (at times) in close contact with others
  • I have very frequent contact at work with other
  • I work for a particularly urgent project (project name?)

Another point: In an amendment to the Coronavirus vaccination regulations, the German government has stated that prioritization group 3 covers “besides persons working in schools, also persons working at universities. This includes, in particular, university teachers and other scientific personnel with teaching duties."  The MPG has now informed us that we can issue a certificate to the employees who face a risk of infection that is comparable the risk faced by university staff. This certificate will enable them to register under priority group 3 with a vaccination center.  If you perform such activities, which imply, in particular, regular and close contact with other people, you may request a certificate from the crisis team.

Best wishes,
Laurent Gizon
