The Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS) in Göttingen, Germany, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Position in turbulent convection.

The position is available in the Max Planck Research Group of Computational Flow Physics and Data Assimilation, starting as early as 1 July 2021 for a period of two years, with the possibility of an extension.

The exact start date is negotiable.

Turbulent convection is ubiquitous in geophysics and astrophysics. This project will consist of studying the effects of rotation and magnetic fields on turbulent convection in Cartesian, cylindrical, and spherical geometries, using highly parallelized numerical tools.
