The Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Göttingen, Germany, invites applications for a Database Software Developer to work for the PLATO Data Center.

The position is available for an initial period starting as early as 1st June 2018 until 31st March 2019, with the possibility of a long-term extension until launch (2026), which is contingent upon performance and project funding.
PLATO is a European Space Agency mission that aims to detect and characterize exoplanets and their host stars. A PDC Database will be implemented at the MPS, which will be the central data exchange hub for European PLATO data processing centers.

Your tasks

  • Develop the PDC Database system
  • Contribute to the production of PDC technical documentation

Your profile

  • MSc or PhD or relevant experience
  • Expertise in Java, Java Native Interface, Swing/Abstract Window Toolkit, Eclipse, JavaFX
  • Experience with databases & development tools (e.g. Jenkins, QF-Test, Redmine, svn/git), Linux
  • Proficiency with Python and C
  • Good command of the English Language

Our offer

Remuneration will be in accordance with the German Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD Bund E13). Social security benefits are in accordance with the public service regulations.
